Half Way Through
Training has been great. The change I see in people after each season is amazing. The change I feel in my own body to this point is great!
to recap what each session addresses and the goal of each session so far:
Session 1 - working to expand vital capacity and breath and to horizontalize and mobilize the pelvis. areas addressed the arms, shoulders, ribcage, pelvis, neck and back.
Session 2 -...
Vital Capacity and Center of Gravity
Session 1 works to open the rib cage and creating more room for the heart and lungs. This allows for more oxygen in the blood. We work to loosen the fascia that surrounds the rib cage, looking for areas that don’t move with breath. Try taking a breath into your rib cage, rather than your belly, does your rib cage expand. Look in a mirror and breath, do you see expansion? Try focusing on...

Session 10: Ben & Carol
In session ten the objective is to connect all aspects of the body in order to create better function and movement. We do this by touching on the key areas that were focused on throughout the series, trying to create a joint to joint, or segment to segment connection that creates a continuous flow though the body.
Ben and Carol both found that after the session they felt more together, taller,...
Session 8&9 Pelvic and Shoulder Girdles: Ben and...
Session 8 & 9 and working to create more freedom in movement and function of the Pelvic and Shoulder Girdle. We are working to have better joint movement and relationships in these sessions.
Ben and Carol both found more freedom in there leg and arm movement after the sessions. Carol speaks to how her arthritis doesn’t flair up as often, and how her knees and hips especially don’t...
Session 7 Neck and Head work: Ben & Carol
This session works to put the head and neck on top of the body, lining the ear up with the shoulder. Most people tend to carry their head in front of them, creating strain on their neck and shoulder region. We also work on the face if the client is interested, working to create more space in the mouth and nasal region.
Carol and Ben both found that they had more range of motion in their head...
Session 6 Back of Leg work: Ben & Carol
In session six we are working to stabilized the legs by creating horizontal and vertical alignment, also continuing to balance the pelvis.
In this work we create more freedom in the hamstrings and lower legs. As well as working to free the legs from the pelvis allowing the legs to move independent of the pelvis.
Session 5 Pelvic Girdle: Ben & Carol
In this session we are working to balance the pelvis, so that it is truly a basin that holds the body’s organs. Most people have a tilt to their pelvis creating lower back pain and not allowing for the stabilization of the body’s organs. Working to level the pelvic girdle allows for the upper body’s weight to pass through the pelvis and out into the ground rather than residing in...

session 4 inner leg work: Ben & Carol
In this session we are trying to lengthen in inner leg and start to free the pelvis from the leg. Most of this session is done with the client laying on their side.
Ben: looking at our progress since session three Ben seems to be finding a line of energy that runs through him and supports him. Looking to see what we will pay attention to in this session it looks as though Ben’s adductors...
Client doesn't ware orthotic anymore
I have been working on a client and he was telling me how he has been wearing an orthotic insert in his shoe for many years and over the last few weeks has quit wearing it and found that things are good. We have completed the sixth session, this is very exciting that he no longer feels the need to have a lift.
session 3 sideline work: Ben & Carol
In this session we are working to create a line down the side separating the front from the back and creating a more even spread from front to back.
Ben: as we looked to see what changes occurred since Session 2 I noticed that his legs seemed to extend more vertically in relation to his foot, and doesn’t tilt as he bends. Ben commented that he felt a shift in his ankles as a result of the...
session 2 foot work: Ben & Carol
In this session we look to the feet and the ankle and the hinge of the ankle and bend of the knee. Do they bend forward or do they have a tendency to tilt in or out. For many this is a difficult and intense session because of the tension that we have but never seem to take note of in our feet. Let’s keep in mind that if your note sitting your standing on your fee. This is your foundation and...

What is Structural Integration or SI?
Have you heard of “RolfingĀ®”? this trademark comes from the creator of Structural Integration’s name Ida P Rolf. They are essentially one in the same. Now back to the question what is it?
Ida Rolf developed a ten session series of body work to allow for the body’s structure to be correctly integrated or aligned. Each session works to re-pattern specific areas of the body....

session 1: Ben & Carol
Ben: Looking at Ben before we began he had a definite sway in his back to the point of looking as if he were leaning back. There was no movement in his back with his breath, and limited expansion of his chest. Upon completion of Session 1 the sway of his back is not as pronounced and his torso is on top of him and not leaning back. There is movement now in his back as he takes a breath and more...
